Schedule for

the Master Class 2005/2006 on

`Finite and Infinite Dimensional Dynamical Systems'

• There are two semesters each with 12-15 weeks of lectures.

• There is a (long) Christmas break between the semseters in which (also) exams are prepared and/or excercises are handed in.

• At the end of the spring semester there are 7 weeks and to work on the test problem/ write the `master class thesus'.

Fall Semester (start: September 12)

Remarks

• See the map for the location of BBL (Buijs Ballot Laboratorium) and WG (Wiskunde Gebouw).
• The courses `Dynamical systems generated by ordinary differential equations and maps' and `Infinite Dimensional Dynamical Systems I' are also part of the Dutch Master Program in Mathematics ; `Infinite Dimensional Dynamical Systems I' has the title `Partial Differential Equations' in this context.

Structure of the semester

• September 12 - December 23: : courses & excercises.
• December 23 - February 5: vacation, excercises & study for exams
• January/February: exams

Spring Semester (start lectures: February 8; start seminar: January 18)

Remarks

• The course `Variational Methods' will be taught in 105B BBL on 9/2 and 16/2.

• Mats Gyllenberg (Helsinki) is visiting Utrecht University as F.C. Donders-professor.
  He will give a series of lectures on

  `The Dynamics of Physiologically Structured Populations'

  These lectures are embedded in the seminar `Dynamics and Patterns' and take
  place on Wednesdays 14.00 - 16.00. However, unlike the other MC courses,
  (*) these lectures already start on January 18.
